West London Penthouse<\/h1>

This West London Penthouse was originally two apartments occupying the 14th and 15th floors of an imposing new build development just off Edgware road. With unobstructed views across London in all directions, this home away from home would be the first of several properties purchased by the family to live in while in the UK. At that time, the apartment layout had already been rationalised by the family and was divided into several suites making up a residential<\/a> \u2018mini boutique hotel\u2019. Further principle rooms included a large cinema room<\/a>, a reception room and separate lounge as well as a 1000 square foot roof terrace complete with garden and a 10 seat Jacuzzi bath.<\/p>

The brief from the client was to have individually designed rooms and to incorporate textures and specialist finishes throughout to create a unique luxury interior design<\/a>. They also required a top notch AV installation to suit their lifestyle as well as a full FF&E fit out to consist of a mixture of comfortable seating and sculptural occasional elements that would complement the interior design scheme.<\/a><\/p>

Whilst the layout had already been confirmed with the main contractor, there was still a fair amount of design work required. The team set about designing the interior hard landscaping, designing the doors<\/a>, luxury bathrooms<\/a>, and choosing sanitaryware.<\/p>

When you enter the apartment, you are immediately struck by the niche which has been gilded in copper leaf<\/a> and which is further highlighted by strategically placed lighting<\/a>. In the main reception room which is a glorious open plan arrangement, the focal point is a polished plaster wall done in a cross combed effect, which separates the formal living space from the dining room. Another area of specialist decoration is the feature wall in the stairwell which is a bold aubergine and silver artwork. Says the designer, Ren\u00e9 Dekker \u2018I wanted to mimic a Turner landscape, but within a contemporary idiom\u2019. Less dramatic but still visually exciting are the array of wall coverings used throughout the apartment. These range in hue and tone and make use of linen and grass cloth type textures which are not immediately obvious but are discovered as one explores further.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Most of the furniture items are bespoke which is to be expected when working with Dekker on a scheme of this calibre. The large dining table is a sleek contemporary, timber sculpture, made using several components in order for it to get up the stairs. All of the sofas and headboards were specially designed with exact dimensions provided by the clients as were most of the rugs. A precise brief was proposed for the AV system ensuring exact TV sizes, speaker locations and technical capabilities were achieved, including TVs in the main en suites as well as on the roof terrace. Finally the accessories and art were all chosen with the d\u00e9cor in mind.<\/p>

So when the residence needed to be upgraded and refreshed, it was an obvious choice for the client to ask Ren\u00e9 Dekker to come back and tackle the job. Having previously designed and worked on this duplex apartment when the clients purchased the property, Ren\u00e9 had an intimate understanding of what their expectations would be. Work included the addition of a guest WC, a full re-decoration throughout, new lighting as well as the re-upholstery of several items of furniture. Several new pieces of art were procured and on the roof terrace the Jacuzzi surround was refurbished and the timber decking was upgraded.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
